Chapter 2:
The silence of the ancient ruin was suffocating.
Stone pillars, cracked and scorched by time, towered above Jin like silent witnesses to a forgotten war. Faint blue glyphs danced along the walls, illuminating the chamber with ghostly light.
Jin’s fingers brushed against the cold stone.
“Where… am I?” he muttered.
“This is a buried relic from the Techno-Sect Era,” Chrono replied. “A War Bunker. Estimated age: 3,800 years. All external life signs: Negative.”
He stepped forward, limping slightly, until he reached the shattered remains of a combat simulator pod — wires torn, bloodstains fossilized.
“What happened here?”
“Mass suicide. Final log entry: ‘They will never find us alive. The code must remain buried.’”
Jin paused.
There was something sacred about this place. Sacred… and violated.
Like himself.

Before this, before betrayal, Jin had a name that almost meant something.
The Ryu Clan, one of the Four Dragon Lineages of the Eastern Continent, was revered for its brutal martial arts — The Eightfold Dragon Fist — and its mastery over internal flame cultivation. Their bloodline was said to descend from Ryulon, the Flame-Eater Dragon of the First Era.
But lineage meant nothing when your mother was a servant.
Nothing when you were the bastard child of the Great Patriarch.
Nothing when the only thing you inherited was the scorn of your kin.
His half-brother, Ryukan, was the golden boy — born with twin cores, praised by elders, raised like a future emperor.
And Jin?
He was the “Flickering Flame” — mocked because his core flickered unpredictably. A defect, they called it.
What they never knew… was that it flickered because something was waiting to awaken inside him.
⚔️ “Chrono, what am I now?”
“Something new. You are neither cultivator nor machine. You are the blade between both.”
“Can I… learn techniques?”
“I’ve salvaged one. Partially corrupted, but viable.”
A new pulse echoed through the chamber as a spectral sword appeared midair — shimmering with digital static.

Jin reached out, and the sword disintegrated into particles — absorbed through his palm.
He staggered, eyes glowing, memories not his flashing before his vision — battles, sword arcs, death.
“Aghhh—!” he screamed, blood trailing from his nose.
“Do not resist. Let the memory of the blade guide you.”
His body dropped to a knee, but his mind… it focused.
A phantom blade formed in his hand.
He slashed — once.
The air trembled.
Stone shattered ten meters ahead, though his blade had barely moved.
But his moment of awe was broken by a sudden snarl.
From the collapsed corridor, something crawled out — a monstrous hybrid beast, blind but hungry, attracted to the AI’s energy pulses.
Flesh melted into metal, claws sharper than steel.
“Hostile detected. Species: Rustfang Mauler. Evolution Tier: Low-Advanced. Kill or be killed.”
Jin’s grip tightened. The phantom blade reformed.
“Let’s test the memory…”
The beast lunged.
Jin moved. Not faster — but earlier.
His instincts, boosted by Chrono, had already calculated the beast’s leap. His body moved before the attack even started.
Void Pulse Blade – Form I: Flickering Slash
A single, delayed slash.
Blood sprayed. The Mauler collapsed in two pieces, still snarling even in death.
Jin stood there, breathing heavily, the glow fading from his eyes.
“So this is what it means… to use someone else’s strength”
As the dust settled, Jin walked to the far end of the chamber. He found a cracked mirror — maybe once used for battle simulations.
He looked into it.
His eyes were no longer the dull brown of the outcast. They shimmered — with light, with knowledge, with vengeance.
“Ryukan… I’ll return.”
“And when I do, I won’t be asking for a place in the clan.”
“I’ll be coming to burn it down.”
